How To Print Photos for Memory Journaling
Preserving moments through memory journaling is a timeless practice that allows us to reflect on and celebrate the special moments of our lives. One of the key elements in memory journaling is printing the photos that capture those memories. In this guide, I’ll show you the best ways to print photos for memory journaling. From professional printing services to at-home printing techniques, I’ll help you find the perfect method to bring your memories to life on the pages of your journal.
Option One: Print Photos At Home
The major upsides to printing at home are both convenience and control. The only downside would be having to purchase a quality home printer if you don’t already have one. However, if you already have a decent printer at home then this option is perfect for you. If you’re in the market for a printer I have a whole post dedicated to the best printers for at home printing.
Creating Collages
There are a couple of ways I setup my photos for home printing. The first one is using a free design website like Canva to create collages. I typically do a mix of collage grids plus a few larger photos on my journaling pages. Canva has so many collage options and fun things to add to your photos like filters, stickers, text etc.
I print on 8.5×11 photo paper so when I’m in Canva I set my canvas to that size and fill up the page with the photos I want. That way, no photo paper is wasted.
If you don’t have access to Canva you could also use a free app like Pic Collage. Once you’re in the app you can choose from a number of different collage grids, then just add your photos and save the collage to your phone for printing. Pic Collage is a fun choice because you can add stickers, text, adjust the background, grid sizes etc.
Another great choice for printing photos for memory journaling at home is by utilizing a small format photo printer like the Polaroid Hi-Print. This compact printer uses a dye sublimation technology to print 2×3 inch photos. Bonus, they’re stickers! I use this printer all the time when I’m working in my travel journal and my monthly memory journal. You can see the photos below are all 2×3 photos that I printed with the Hi-Print.
Option Two: Printing Services
When it comes to obtaining high-quality prints for your memory journal, professional printing services can be a great choice. Explore online services and local print shops that offer photo printing options. Look for services that provide options for various print sizes, paper finishes, and customizable features. By utilizing professional printing services, you can ensure the longevity and vibrancy of your printed photos, enhancing the overall aesthetic of your memory journal.
Follow one of the options above to create your collages before ordering the photos. Check out Staples, Walgreens and CVS for quick, affordable options.
For collage photos that you can make online and have come right to your door, try Persnickety Prints. It’s actually really affordable and removes a lot of the hassle.
