Easy Halloween Treats- No Recipe Required

I don’t know about you, but I am so over the complicated, over-the-top, extravagant, holiday content that takes over every social media platform these days. It’s as if every holiday is a competition to come up with the next best idea, the most viral post etc. It’s become less about creating memories with the kids and more about gaining likes and popularity. Ick.

So today, I’m sharing with you six recipes that are genuinely easy to create with your kids + they’re actually delicious. The best part is that all of these can be made gluten free by subbing some of the ingredients for their GF counterparts. For example, swap the cookie dough for gf cookie dough, swap the brownie mix for gf brownie mix, Oreos for gf Oreos. As a household with 2 gluten free and 2 non gluten free, it’s important to me to make sure everyone is included. I’ve included the gluten free ingredient options (italicized) in each shopping list.

1. Monster Cookies

These chocolate chip cookies look extra festive with orange and black sprinkles mixed into the dough + candy eyeballs added after baking. Not up for making homemade cookie dough? Buy a tub of refrigerated dough and mix the sprinkles in before shaping and baking! No one will ever know. Be sure to add the eyeballs while the cookies are still soft and warm!

2. Mummy Rice Krispie Treats

Nothing beats homemade Rice Krispie treats but if you’re in a bind and out of time, grab a few boxes of premade ones and drizzle them with melted white chocolate. The premade Rice Krispie Treats can be a little thick so I recommend warming them up in the microwave for a few seconds and then using a dough roller to flatten them out a bit. Glue the candy eyeballs on with white chocolate and you have a cute + tasty treat for the little ones.

3. Pretzel Spiderwebs

A two ingredient recipe? Count me in! These little spiderwebs couldn’t be easier to make and they look so cute when finished! For smaller webs, break the pretzel rods in half and for larger webs, leave them whole.

4. Mummy Brownies

How cute are these little mummies? These would be a hit at any party or Halloween bake sale. The kids will love mixing the batter, spreading the frosting and adding the little eyes to make them come to life!

5. Strawberry Ghosts

It’s fruit so it’s healthy, right? Totally. I adore the spooky faces on these little chocolate covered strawberries. Plus, you only need 3 ingredients and the kids will definitely enjoy the dipping part. Use a toothpick to help spread a little dot of melted chocolate into a spooky mouth shape.

6. Oreo Spiders

A plate of delicious spiders! What is not to love? These are perfect for toddlers because no actual baking is involved. They can practice their fine motor skills by picking up the pretzel rods and sticking them into the Oreos. And again when adding the candy eyeballs onto the melted milk chocolate.
